Progressive Nature of Mankind
The human race is making tremendous progress in the field of knowledge and science and no upper limit can be set for the ultimate achievement. Ironically it has made little progress in the realm of human attributes. Despite a continuous rising graph of progress in material aspects, there has been no meaningful achievement in the attainment of moral values. Today’s human being is as good or bad as his predecessors were thousands of years ago. What is the difference between the savagery of Chaingez Khan and that of the war mongers of 20th century during the world wars and those of today? In my opinion the only difference is that the methods of exploitation have become more sophisticated and are beautifully shrouded behind attractive propaganda campaigns.
Why Peace is Necessary
It is also a fact that the mankind can make gradual progress in peaceful environment only. If there is no peace, the forces of destruction not only retard the pace of progress but also give a setback of decades or even centuries. Apart from impeding the progress and prosperity, the wars and conflicts always result in human miseries, sufferings and personal tragedies. This was never desired by the nature. We can thus conclude that disturbing the peace is akin to fighting against the nature. Logically if you fight against nature, you will surely face the wrath of the nature that has its own ways and means to do so.
How Peace will be Achieved
In my opinion the attainment of world peace is a function of human attributes rather than that of the scientific knowledge. Character-building is vital for the humans if they really want a peaceful world. The peace would be achieved with the help of attributes like tolerance, sacrifice and justices. No amount of scientific research will tell you why you should sacrifice your interests and benefits for the sake of others, particularly the ones who are weaker than you but are justifiably demanding the same. This is possible only through character-building which is equally important for the heads of states of powerful countries and the bread-earners in the street. This is the bottom line of my efforts.
A Collective Responsibility
Attainment of world peace is the collective responsibility of all of us, because all the inhabitants of this planet are the direct stake holders. I feel it to be my responsibility that I must indicate all the possible flash points in the world that have the potential of igniting war and destroying peace. One may not agree with my opinion as it depends up on the personal out look. All the visitors, regardless of color, race, nationality and religion are therefore invited to offer their candid opinions, suggestions and comments with a view to seeking improvement. Even the most humble and modest of the suggestions would be of great value for me.
